After the recent cold snap in the UK your thoughts may be turning to holidays in warmer climes – or, indeed, a house move or holiday home purchase abroad.
Slowly the pound is strengthening against the euro which, with property prices having come down considerably more in Spain than in the UK, makes things look all the more appealing for that home in the sun.
TAX SAVINGS……….
You should consider, as a UK citizen owning property in Spain, transferring this into a UK limited company (of which you are the directors) – there are costs involved but long-term there’s no Spanish Inheritance Tax (which can be very costly), no 3% withholding tax to the vendor and no 7% purchase tax for the buyer. Worth exploring…….
